Inky Dink

Traditionally people give up or sacrifice something during the Lenten season, but for years now I’ve always done something of the opposite. I try to add something fulfilling to my life. This year I’ve decided to do a drawing a day.

Day 35

Eh, I can’t ink for shit, but here’s to tryin.

Reluctant – Dkd and Brea Part: One

Traditionally people give up or sacrifice something during the Lenten season, but for years now I’ve always done something of the opposite. I try to add something fulfilling to my life. This year I’ve decided to do a drawing a day.

Day 13

This is an inked drawing of an old sketch I did. I’ll do the color tomorrow. The original coloring is framed and hanging in the hallway. It’ll be nice to see the difference in technique and style over the years.

Brutop

Traditionally people give up or sacrifice something during the Lenten season, but for years now I’ve always done something of the opposite. I try to add something fulfilling to my life. This year I’ve decided to do a drawing a day.

Day 07

Brutop is an old character for a story I developed eons ago. I found old sketches of him in a box that I have – I have a hard time throwing away any sketch or doodle that I make. I redrew him from the designs I had, but simplified his armor. Eventually I’d like to make his armor more elaborate and ornate. He’s the right hand of Lilith, battle hardened and decorated soldier of nature and it should show. Not so much in this design.

Güber

Traditionally people give up or sacrifice something during the Lenten season, but for years now I’ve always done something of the opposite. I try to add something fulfilling to my life. This year I’ve decided to do a drawing a day.

Day 03

Güber is a character I made in high school. He looked a bit different back then. This is a “modern day” re-creation.

Brea in the Wind

Traditionally people give up or sacrifice something during the Lenten season, but for years now I've always done something of the opposite. I try to add something fulfilling to my life. This year I've decided to do a drawing a day.

Day 01

This is an older character design of Brea. Originally just a sketch in pencil. I scanned it, then inked and colored it in Photoshop.

Skratch Project 2

Brea in Ginger

The original sketch was actually quite a mess. It was a pen scribble made on the back of a marketing deck that was being thrown out; something I doodled while bored at my old job. Had to realign the sketch a bit, her face was all over the place.

Skratch Project 1

It’s difficult for me to throw away sketches that I do. I do my best to keep them all. Most of the time I sketch out of inspiration rather than out of boredom, so it’s important for me to retain that value of motivation as opposed to trashing it; wasting away that moment of muse. There are sketches on all kinds of things – napkins, notebook margins and my favorite being, pieces of scratch paper. I have folders and folders of ideas and projects stuffed with pencillic inspirations that I’ve decided to bring to life.
